May 2011 Destin Vacation

Had a great trip to Destin with Grandma and Pops. It was too short in fact (as most vacations are). Kirk and I always go through a mourning period when we get home. We keep checking Destin weather and talk/dream about just turning the car right around and going back. The girls had so much fun eating donuts every morning, rotating between the pool and the ocean, resting briefly, going back to the pool or beach, going out for dinner followed by more donuts and then off to bed for more of the same the next day.

Josie was so cute. She was not a huge fan of the sand. She liked it briefly when I first set her down. She liked to put it in her mouth and then realized it was still attached to her leg. She quickly took to the posture of scrunching her legs high and clinging for dear life whenever you tried to set her on the sand or in the water. She really did not like the cold ocean water or the pool water.
Logan found a boogie board in our condo and it became her best friend. She taught herself to ride the waves in. Sometimes the waves would knock her over and she would get the water out of her nose and go at it again. It is so nice to see her enjoy the water and yet ask for help when she needs it. She used to be too fearless when she was younger. You couldn't keep your eyes off her for a second or she would drown! It is great to be able to share and enjoy with her all the fun things about the beach.
Lilly just went with the flow. She enjoyed the pool more than the beach. When at the beach she had no intention of getting in the ocean and would dig in the sand and make sand piles. She worked on being brave in the pool and jumping in from the side.
