Day 1
June 25, 2011
8:40am
Arrived at the airport with lots of goodbye hugs from the girls and Kirk.
We made it with time to spare but the lady checking us in was a little moody. There are 7 of us flying out of Nashville. At least half of us had tears flowing!
It took a while to get us all checked in because of our weight limitations on our luggage. We were allowed 2 bags weighing 50lbs each and a carry on. Well, we have so many donations and our own clothes that a few of us were over the weightage. If you go over it would cost $200 per item over, per flight ($400 total for our flight today and tomorrow). I had to take out some books, velveeta cheese, chocolates and journals. I can't believe velveeta weighs 2lbs and so did my hershey kisses. Trust me....neither are my favs...but they were requested by some of the missionaries there.
Ms. Moody check in lady sent all of our luggage directly to Uganda and not to DC as planned. No big deal but we do need a change of clothes, toiletrees etc. As we are looking out our plane window I think the issue is corrected and they are retagging all of our bags. We walked directly to our gate and never sat down and walked directly to the plane. We were glad we were not late and also glad we didn't have to wait at all. We are on a mini plane though...not so fun!
4:00pm
Arrived in Dulles aiport in DC with lots of luggage. I felt bad for the tiny guy putting all of our 50lb bags on the luggage rack on the way to Embassy Suites. We ate some lunch, went to Kohls for some last minute things and are now just relaxing and will probably sleep before our 8pm dinner and meeting with the rest of the team members and off to bed.
So thankful that you have arrived!!!! Praying, praying, praying. Love the pictures of the airport. Blessings my friend!
